Blogging and Moving? Why not...

I'm packing up the POD and getting my house ready to sell, all as a single mom.  I don't know how all those single moms do it.  It would be so hard!  I have so much respect for someone that can take on that kind of challenge.  My dad gets here in two days then we'll take off on our cross-country drive to our new home.  Wowza!  I'll have more to share about our last few weeks here but I wanted to get caught up before I do that.

This winter actually has me looking forward to winters in Idaho.  It was cold and wet and icy all the time.  Here are a few pics from an ice storm that came through and left a huge sheet of ice on everything.  Devin had to chip away the ice from his car for 20 minutes just to be able to drive it.

Sophie loves her princesses.  She plays with them constantly.  It's so cute the little world she creates for them.

Here's the sweet card that Eva made for me.  (translation:  Be my Valentine.  You're a sweetheart.  I love you deep inside my heart.)
A little drawing from Sophie.  She loves to draw "mascara".  (At the zoo yesterday I referred to a giraffe as a "he".  She said, "No!  Giraffes are girls!  They have mascara!"  I never realized giraffes had such long eyelashes but little Sophie did.  She doesn't like it when I don't have my make-up on.  When I put it on she says, "Now you look like a mommy.")

My neighbor wanted me to take pics of your 1-yr-old.  A greenhouse was the perfect place to go with all the cold weather.  Here are a few test shots of Sophie from that day.

Sweet little Audrey from across the street.  We're going to miss these guys.

My parents also came to town for a visit.  My dad has this great story from when he was a boy.  He got a nickel from his mom and went to the "chinaman's" store to buy some candy.  He bought a pack of his favorite gum, BlackJack gum.  He saved it until after dinner.  Forgot about it until he was already in bed.  Remembering the gum, he ate a piece in bed.  Then another and another until the entire pack was gone.  Then he fell asleep (and miraculously didn't choke to death) and woke up in the morning with is pillow stuck to his head.  He then got an awesome haircut.

The girls love him to tell the story because as he tells it he pulls out piece after piece of gum and lets the kids chew as the story progresses.  They end up with this giant wad of licorice gum in their mouths.  So if you ever see a pack of BlackJack gum, pick one up and you can have a fun time with some kids!

Again, so sad that you're moving...I must have gone through the same ice storm as you did. Cool pictures. Wow, I'm not a child expert so I literally have no clue as to how quickly they advance, but that seems pretty amazing that Eva wrote that much on a card. I'm impressed :) Good luck on your move. I have the luxury of free movers and I still detest everything about it. Miss you!

Makes me want to go out right now and get some BlackJack gum. Next time I see him, I will ask him to tell the story just so I can get some free gum.
