Another Week in Eva Land

Note to self: Never leave baby unattended with Devin's classmates at a Superbowl party. Baby will attack beer mug. Got your attention? Welcome to the weekly musings of a new mom.
You know how when you're in the moment you're thinking, I need to blog this. Then it comes time to blog and you're thinking, "that was totally not blog-worthy". Well today, I decided to blog it anyway, so here it is: how I start my day 3 or 4 days of the week.

On a normal night Eva will sleep from 9pm to 4:30 or 5am. I'll go get her and feed her in our bed then she'll sleep between us for the remainder of the night. About 7 she'll start chirping and flapping her limbs like a turtle flipped over on its shell. I'm not ready to get up so I'll roll her onto my chest to try to lull her back to sleep. It won't work so I'll stand her up on my tummy. She'll spring up, look around the room then back at me with a big, proud grin on her face. Then I'll lay her back down on my chest, propped up by her arms, her face about 6 inches from mine. She'll stare at me while contemplating which of my facial features to attack. 3-2-1. Slime Time! Then she'll pull back- "burp" (oh no, OH NO) BARF (ok, I'm up, I'm up). And that's how my day begins.

Babies change so much. It really is astonishing. She has finally discovered her toes, she's starting to sit on her own, she'll chew on anything and everything (loves ice in her mesh teether), and she makes a sound similar to Muccully Culkin when he yells in Home Alone- especially during American Idol. I think it is her version of singing. The contestant will start singing, she'll sing back, we turn up the volume to hear the tv, she'll turn up the volume in retaliation and on it goes until the cops show up. Last night we gave Eva her first taste of "real" food. Rice cereal is hardly my idea of a good meal but to this baby is tasted like Paula Deen's fried chicken. Here is the video of her first bites and the battle that ensues over who gets to hold the spoon.

And 3 bonus videos for the Eva fan club.
3. Now don't call UARMTI (Unemployed Attorneys for the Really Mean Treatment of Infants) on me-note she is smiling, not crying when we clap at her. Just one more thing I find really funny. (This is totally off the subject but a couple nights ago she bounced in this thing for about an hour and a half. When I took her out her cheeks were bright red and she was all sweaty. Ok, here's the clip.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xUadRHO5OE

I loved reading all about a day with Eva. I can't wait to spend a day with her :} I'm sure she's got Aunt Cool's genes and wants to be on American Idol someday and she's just rehearsing.

I love how you video and blog all of your torturous times with Eva!! They are hilarious!
Isn't great how babies know exactly how to get you out of bed in the morning? All it takes is a little puke :)

Always use two baby spoons...one for the baby and one for you to sneak in an occasional bite! We had a great laugh!

Ha, you rookies! Once Eva gets control of the spoon it will be all over (literally and figuratively). And don't worry about that whole beer thing. It's genetic. Devin used to wander around as a toddler at my work parties and drink out of everyone's beer can. Most fun he ever had.

I loved the daily routine and videos. The clapping one was hilarious. Joan said you'll be in Idaho at the end of this month. Adam and I are visiting as well and I think it would be fun to get together.

So I don't know if it's the computer I'm using or what but I couldn't see any text so I didn't get to read your post but I loved the pics! Eva looks like you I think. She is so darling. Did you hear anything about the Duke game? Corey looked it up and he said it was on Sunday so I don't think we could make the game but I'd still go down to see you :) Let me know what your plans are. Love ya!
