Leprechaun Hunt

Here's a cute email and photos sent home today by Eva's teacher.  Eva has been so excited about their Leprechaun hunt.

Dear Parents,

Happy St. Paddy's Day.  We almost caught the Leprechaun.  The children were so excited to track down the Leprechaun that some of us were not even phased by having a live lamb in our classroom.  Let me go back to the beginning.  When the students came to school, there were signs that a leprechaun had been in the building.  (glitter and shamrocks on the floor and in the potty)   The students, with the help of Ms. Terry, constructed a trap to catch the leprechaun.  They used many green things but also shiny gold things.  We then left the room looking for him.  We thought we were on the right trail because my shamrock earring started to light up.  The trail got cold when we searched in the other building so we headed back to our classroom.  To our surprise, the trap had been sprung, the room was a mess and the screen on the window was pushed out.  We did not catch the leprechaun but he did leave us "a rainbow of flavors."

When we finished cleaning up the leprechaun's mess, Miss Ellen's friend came into our classroom with a one week old lamb named Mercy.  He was precious.  He wobbled around our classroom and then we all got a chance to pet him.

What a cute St. Patrick's Day idea! Love that Eva is like the only girl in the class :)

Three cheers for a teacher with imagination! Let me know when they try to catch an alien (the UFO kind)as I might be able to offer my services and considerable expertise.
